Italy .. a constant inspiration to design enthusiasts. Its' magnitude is seen throughout the world: architecture, fashion, coffee, you name it. Much in the faux painting world is a desire to mimic the beauty of Italy . To be able to experience it through the eyes of a native is another thing.
For our 7 th annual decorative painting trip (June 2005), we celebrated with more than 40 attendees and the “Dream Team” of faux finishers and decorative artists, Nicola Vigini, Pierre Finkelstein, Sean Crosby, and Pascal Amblard. The camaraderie amongst participants, the food, the tours was, as we say in Italian, “Basta”, enough. It was too good to be true. In general the enthusiasm that surrounded program was astounding. Each participant benefited from this tax-deductible trip. Several participants have already sold their panels and plan to return next year. See the magnificent murals that were brought home to show off!
Those of you ready for 15 days of an Italian painting experience (practicing or professionals), get ready to join us for next year's excursion.

It is very exciting that all of our classes were full not only at the SALI convention (2 years in a row), but now also at the Faux Expo. This says a lot about our reputation and interest in our workshops, specifically Grottesca and Trompe l'oeil . Those of you who visit our booth at the Faux Expo in Dallas , have the opportunity to win prizes which include free workshops.

The perfect opportunity to see what is new in architecture and design but mainly view what is happening in faux and decorative finishing in South Texas . Most finishers are Vigini students. Refined Furniture: August 25-26
Realistic simulations of burl wood, lapis, malachite, chinnoiserie, marquetry, and tortoise shell will be covered to produce uniquely elegant inlaid panels and intricate moldings.  These finishes have impressed clients of all types and have given our students an edge over other finishers.

Trompe l'oeil with Italian Landscape : Sept 19-24
Want to Learn How to Paint a Mural? This class will combine a realistic rendering of an old door and balustrade opening to a beautiful Italian landscape. Perspective with tonal value, color mixing, and realistic shadow and light will be covered.  This particular mural was featured at the 2005 Salon in Philadelphia .
