Beautiful Things: Original Art from the Artists of GUILD.com is a celebration of beauty in art.  It features more than 250 objects and two-dimensional artworks available to consumers worldwide during the first year of the GUILD.com website.  As such, it documents the remarkable union of new technology and enduring aesthetic values.

Until recently a collection of art was defined - and limited - by location.  Artworks displayed in a gallery, a museum or a home of a private collector were bound by the walls on which they were  hung and the pedestal on which they stood.  In the age of the Internet, these limitation are obselete.  The collection of art displayed on GUILD.com and includes more than 10,000 pieces by 1,500 artists.  And while the breath of the collection is enormous, the quality is exceptional.  Artwork shown on the GUILD.com website is selected byMichael Monroe, former director of the Smithsonian's Renwick Gallery and curator of the White House Collection of American Craft.

In choosing the artwork for Beautiful Things, Monroe was joined by GUILD.com artistic advisors Chris Byrne and Victor Landweber.  Their selections are accompanied by short profiles of featured artists and illuminating commentary from art historian Glenn Adamson.

The journey through this memorable collection--and anyone interested in all things beautiful--will want to take again and again.
