Marble and Stone Finishes

In this workshop students will be introduced to the enchanting art of faux marble.   Participants will learn the structure and composition of real marble while learning unique time saving methods.  Exotic Inlaid marble panels using Alabaster, Cippolino, Onyx, White Carrara, Travertine, Limestone, Red Granite, and Malachite will be created.

At Vigini Studios, we pride ourselves in the knowledge that we are fluent not only in the Northern European method of producing marbles using layers of translucent glazes, but also in the the Fresco Secco Italian method of creating "marmora" or marble.  Our courses are based on crafting imitations of real and fantasy marbles encouraged by natural, geological inspirations. We encourage this course as production methods are taught in this class, ensuring profits.

Faux marble combines the use of a variety of painting techniques to simulate stone, marble, and semi-precious gems. Marbling is appreciated because it can be used when the actual material desired is either too costly or technically unfeasible. Expert placement of masses, drifts and veins of color permit the artist to recreate real and imaginary stone or to reproduce antique marbles no longer in existence, such as ancient Roman marbles imported from Greece and Egypt. Learn more about marbles on our annual summer workshop in Italy.
